Hello Pet
Lovers!
January and February have whizzed past, our shop has been
getting steadily busier and busier and Rocket, our Labrador puppy, gets
cuter by the day!
Thank you
to all who emailed us suggested names for our cute new pup after meeting
him in our last newsletter. We decided that the name Rocket matched his
fun-loving personality and speed when chasing balls across the
garden.

With the first
holidays of the year upon us, pet owners will be wondering what to do with
their pets while you are away. There are a few options available to you;
arrange a pet sitter, book them into kennels or take them with you! If you
decide that using a pet sitter is the way to go, we suggest giving Jeanne
a call. She’s a live-In Pet Sitter that takes care of your pets, garden
and home whilst you are away.
You can contact Jeanne on 082 773 2239.
DON’T leave them
at home unsupervised. Not only is this
stressful for the animal that feels abandoned by his family, but is also
cruel. As Rocket is still quite young and has not been with us for very
long, we thought it best to take him on holiday with us.
To make
your trip a pleasant experience for all, we’ve put together a list of
items that we think are indispensable when traveling with your pets:
- Make
sure your pet is fully vaccinated before you leave. Travel with your
vaccination certificate
- Medication:
If your dog is on chronic medication, don’t forget to take it with you.
Make sure you have enough medication to last until you get back from
your holiday
- Food:
Take your dog’s favourite food with- remember, we deliver throughout
Gauteng!
- Water
dish and bottle of water: Pack a bowl and a water
bottle to re-hydrate your pet during the trip
- Your
pet's bedding. Bedding retains your scent, and evokes feelings of home
and comfort. We have a wide range of bedding options available on our
site and in-store
- Calming
products: for stressed pets or first-time
travelers, we suggest products such as D.A.P. ® (Dog Appeasing
Pheromone) or Feliway ® for cats. These products mimic the natural
pheromones produced by cats and dogs to promote feelings of calm and
soothing
- A
clean-up kit: In case your pet gets car sick, pack
a simple clean-up kit with a fabric, carpet or leather cleaner. Also
bring along paper towels and a small garbage bag. To freshen up
afterwards, we recommend PURL Freshness spray
- A
collar and lead. This will help make sure your pet
does not run away if frightened and keep your pet under control. A tag
on the collar with your contact number is also a good
idea
- Pack
a photo of your pet: if your pet goes missing whilst you are away from
home you can use it to help people identify your pet and return him to
you safely. It is a good idea to have your pet micro chipped. This will
help to get your loyal friend back to you if he/she gets
lost
Lastly, have
your vet’s number on standby in case of emergency. You may be away from
home, but he can still provide helpful advice in emergencies. We’ve packed
our bags (and Rocket’s too) and are ready for
adventure!
