How to clean your dog’s teeth
- Start feeling and checking the inside of your dog’s mouth when he is still young so that he gets used to having your fingers in his mouth
- Gently rub your dog’s teeth with a soft cloth or a toothbrush that is made for dogs and puppies
- Use toothpaste that is specially formulated for dogs. We recommend the Kyron Pet Dent Toothpaste
- If your pet won’t let you brush his teeth, there is Kyron Pet Dent Oral Gel which you apply to the gums using your finger
- Do not use your own toothpaste on your pet. It will cause your dog to have a seriously sore tummy

How often should I clean my dog’s teeth?
Unfortunately there is no simple answer to this question. It depends on the following scenarios: -
- Your dog’s diet. Dogs that eat dry kibbles have less plaque build up than dogs that eat wet food. The food brands that we stock have a teeth cleaning formula in them.
- Your dog’s chewing habits. Chewing rawhide bones or toys a few times a week will greatly assist your dog’s dental hygiene
- Your dog’s breed. The smaller the breed, the more it needs to have its teeth cleaned
Not sure?
If you are not sure about your pet’s dental hygiene or are not sure that you want to put your hand in his mouth, rather take your dog to the vet for a dental exam.

I must dash, Rocket’s taking a liking to my sandals (does he want to use the straps to floss with, I wonder?!) talk about taking dental hygiene a bit far!
